COMMITTEES //

Department Committees

The Employment Committee is comprised of volunteers from Chapters across Virginia who are appointed by the Department Commander for a one-year term. The duties of the committee are:

 - Manage the Virginia Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Employment Program by assisting disabled veterans seeking suitable employment by providing relevant information on a broad range of topics such as job search tools/tips, employment opportunities, career assessments, education and training, resume preparation, how to dress for an interview, how to interact with prospective employers at an interview and any other services that may be available.

 - Coordinates with the DAV National Employment Program which assists disabled veterans and their spouses with entry into the job market in order to have a more productive life.

 - Works closely with the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) which provides job referral and placement programs to assist veterans. Working with the VEC Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) and the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialists, the Committee strives to ensure that disabled veterans receive preferences in obtaining employment.

 - Periodically conducts and/or assists with job and/or hiring fairs in various locations throughout Virginia.
