Who Can Help with DAV Claims & Benefits Assistance?
There are three types of Service Officers dedicated to helping veterans and their families access benefits and file claims:
1 / National Service Officers (NSOs)
Professional advocates, typically located at VA Regional Offices, specializing in assisting veterans with VA compensation, pension, healthcare, and appeals. NSOs are experts in navigating VA systems and handling complex claims.
2 / Department Service Officers (DSOs):
Full-time DAV professionals based at VA Medical Centers throughout Virginia. DSOs provide personalized support and guidance to veterans, helping them with claims and benefits at both the department and medical center levels.
3 / Chapter Service Officers (CSOs):
Trained volunteers located throughout local DAV Chapters across Virginia. CSOs offer face-to-face assistance in their communities, helping veterans and families start claims and access resources.
