DAV Walk for Veterans 2013

DAV Walk for Veterans hosted by Lester S. Gordon, DAV Chapter #2

Dear Community Partner,

On behalf of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of Virginia, we invite you to sponsor the third annual 5K-Walk for Disabled Veterans to raise funds for those who sacrificed for our freedoms.  In 2012, we had nearly 250 race participants and a variety of local sponsors like GEICO, Bank of America, Tidewater Tech and Langley Federal Credit Union (LFCU).  This year, we are planning for a bigger and better event!  Will you join us to stand up for our veterans?

The 5K-Walk will be held on April 20, 2013 at Newport News Parks 23564 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News VA 23603 in Newport News, Virginia.  By sponsoring this event, you’ll receive numerous benefits like:

  • ·       Your company logo on race t-shirts and promotions
  • ·       Exposure to local veterans and their supporters
  • ·       Free race entries with tiered sponsor level

We all know veterans; they’re our employees, clients, customers, friends, or family. Veterans with disabilities can have an incredibly difficult transition, that’s why the DAV has developed programs to ease the burden. By sponsoring this event, you will help the DAV continue to provide local veterans with the following:

• Department service programs
• Women veterans program
• Homeless/welfare and relief programs
• Assistance to veterans family caregivers and their families

DAV is a national non?profit organization with over 1.2 million U.S. military veteran members who suffered combat related or service-connected disability while serving in time of war or armed conflict. Locally, our DAV Department serves over 819,000 disabled veterans who live in Virginia.

We would be proud to partner with you on the third annual 5K-Walk for Disabled Veterans, to fulfill our promises to the men and women who served.  I will contact you soon to follow-up and determine your interest in supporting our event.
